Gibberangong Track (to rock carving site)

This lovely track starts at Bobbin Head in the southern section of Kur-ring-gai Chase National Park.  It begins at the far end of the main car park and follows a boardwalk over mangroves, which allows you to get up close to the saltwater wetland ecosystems and birdlife.  The track winds through bush, crossing the Cockle Creek several times before climbing up rock stairs before reaching some Aboriginal rock engravings at the waterhole.  This flat area is ideal for a workout, utilising rock outcrops and tree trunks while enjoying the stunning view.

Resolute Beach Track

This is a great track to do in summer, as you can take a swim at the stunning and mostly deserted Resolute Beach.  The track is located at the far end of West Head in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.  The track starts from the Resolute Picnic area and leads down through a bush track to Resolute Beach, passing Red Hands Cave and an Aboriginal rock engraving site. The walk is reasonably steep, descending via steps into a gully and passing a little waterfall.  After arriving at Resolute Beach you can take advantage of its beauty and solitude for your workout.  The Yoga Stretch session would be perfect here.  After a dip in the ocean and a rest, you can tackle the steep step climb back up the track to your starting point.

America Bay Track

The America Bay track is a great walk through beautiful bushland in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.  Starting from West Head Road (off McCarrs Creek Rd), the track follows a sandstone ridgeline down to America Bay near the mouth of the Hawkesbury River.  The track gradually descends through scribbly gum woodlands to a small creak.  Follow the creak to a rock platform overlooking America Bay and out across Cowan Waters.  Here, you’ll find a picturesque waterfall cascading over the escarpment.  You can stop here for a workout on the flat rock and surrounding bush, or you can scramble down to the water’s edge below and back again for a heart pumping cardio workout.

West Head Lookout

Start this track from the Resolute Picnic Area off  West Head Rd and continue along the Red Hands Track.  It is a great way to avoid crowded car parking at West Head Lookout and the track gives you a lovely opportunity to enjoy beautiful bushland and wild flowers along the way.  The track has some stairs, but your workout can be done once you arrive at the lookout, which offers spectacular views across the Hawkesbury River, Pittwater and Lion Island.  There’s also plenty of benches and walls there to use for step ups and dips, too.
